Sickness of the heart, such as bearing grudges, jealousy and slander, have been a thorn in the flesh of Malay society since time immemorial. These sicknesses may open a door to those who attempt to take advantage of the situation, while the Malays are busy fighting among themselves.
By providing an original backdrop against traditional Malay theatre forms such as mak yong, rodat and shadow puppet, Wan Ahmad Ismail, a local dramatist and poet has succesfully created a realistic portrayal of the sicknesses at the heart of Malay society; sicknesses that are self-destructive.
